Founded in 1993, Autotarvike is a Finnish wholesale distributor of automotive parts, serving repair shops and spare part retailers nationwide.

“Our ERP system contains an enormous amount of data, but it’s not designed for reporting or sales tracking. Wisestein has deep expertise in reporting—they are true professionals in this field,” Paukkunen says.

When it was time to make the systems communicate with each other, Wisestein’s experience with similar integrations proved invaluable. Paukkunen’s role was to act as a “translator” between the ERP and SCM systems, providing insight into the ERP’s interfaces and functionality.
“Integrations typically follow a certain pattern, and Wisestein has gone through it countless times. Thanks to their know-how, everything progressed as smoothly as possible. They’re a highly skilled team,” Paukkunen notes.
The biggest challenges were related to the ERP’s rigidity–but those, too, were overcome.
“Some things simply took extra time because of how stiff the ERP is. In IT projects, you always run into surprises, but the technical collaboration with Wisestein went really well overall,” Paukkunen adds.
Wisestein turns ERP data into business intelligence
Today, ERP data is automatically transferred into SCM databases every night. The SCM software transforms this data into a format that can be effectively used for business planning.
Autotarvike now uses, among others, the Business Analysis module for sales profitability, the Material Managementmodule for purchasing, inventory, and workload optimization, as well as a BI reporting module.
Wisestein SCM® provides visibility into information that was previously inaccessible—for example, tailored reports to monitor product returns and warranty cases.
“Previously, we couldn’t track warranties or returns by product category. Now we can react immediately if the number of warranties for a specific product rises,” Paukkunen explains.
Significant savings and everyday efficiency
According to Paukkunen, the software has delivered major time savings and freed up staff resources for more productive work.
“We’ve been able to automate tasks that were previously done manually. For example, the software automatically sends sales reports to team leaders every Monday. I can honestly say that Wisestein SCM® saves us several man-years of work. We’ve eliminated unnecessary hours and redirected people toward more meaningful tasks,” Paukkunen says.
The visibility provided by the system enables faster and more informed decisions.
“With data, you can draw quick and accurate conclusions. If purchases drop by, say, €10,000, the SCM software instantly shows which product groups are responsible,” Paukkunen explains.
Wisestein SCM® also gives management a real-time view of business performance. It can even generate monthly profit statements that the ERP system cannot produce.
“By assigning cost structures in the background, the software can generate a rough monthly profit statement—something the ERP doesn’t offer at all. Thanks to this, we always have a clear picture of the overall business situation,” Paukkunen says.
